Summer is for…Mexico!

Every summer we escape the fog in San Francisco and head to San Miguel de Allende Mexico to visit family.  I am in love with this quiet little beautiful town.  It’s a place that’s retained its old world charm, with its winding cobblestone streets, vine-covered buildings, a lovely little jardin, and pretty roof-top views…

The kids have enjoyed plenty of (badly needed!) down-time on this trip, and I know that for them San Miguel has started to feel like a little home away from home.  They’ve made so many friends here, and have enjoyed loads of lazy afternoons and swimming and walks through the mercardo and jardin…We visited Guanajuato, swam at the local hot springs, checked out some great films during the Guanajuato International Film Festival, and are getting our fill of amazing Mexican food.  We left our over-scheduled tendencies behind in San Francisco for this trip, and it’s been the best…I think we could all get used to this…

I also managed to leave my camera behind a little more than I’d have liked on this trip, but for what it’s worth here is a little look at our time in San Miguel:
